Pataudi ex-MLA’s son goes missing, abduction alleged

Gurgaon: A 38-year-old owner of a BEd college and the son of former Pataudi MLA Rambir Singh has gone missing under suspicious circumstances. Pankaj Kumar allegedly left home on Friday afternoon and his Etios was found abandoned in Sector 1 area of Pataudi with his mobile phone and keys inside on Saturday morning.
His father suspects Pankaj has been kidnapped. However, no ransom call has been made to the family yet, police said. According to Rambir, his son left for Rewari around 1.15pm on Friday to buy a new SIM card for his new mobile phone as he had misplaced the old one.
“After waiting till 3.30pm that day, we tried calling him on his other mobile phone but that was switched off. On Saturday morning, someone informed the police about his abandoned car in Sector 1 area. His mobile phone and keys were also in the car. I think that someone had kidnapped him,” he told cops.
On the basis of his complaint, an FIR has been registered against unknown accused under Section 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of IPC at the Pataudi police station.
Police said they had scanned Pankaj’s call records and found the last call from his mobile was made to a local resident, Rajesh Soni, around 8.30pm on Friday.
During questioning, Soni told cops that Pankaj had borrowed Rs 25 lakh from him and called him on Friday night to assure him about returning the money.

“This is a matter of investigation as the picture is still not clear whether he was kidnapped. We called Rajesh Soni for questioning and he claimed that Pankaj was yet to return him Rs 25 lakh. We are on the job and hope to track him down soon. The family has not got any ransom call,” said inspector Suresh Kumar, SHO of Pataudi police station.
However, Rambir claimed it was a case of kidnapping though he had not got a ransom call. “Police are doing their best to track down my son. I hope he will be with us soon,” the former MLA said. Rambir is with INLD, at present.
