She says 211 complaints were cleared in 100 minutes

Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati said on Saturday that Udupi district topped the State in disposing complaints made on the C-Vigil app during the recently concluded parliamentary elections.

Addressing presspersons here, Ms. Korlapati said that of the 273 complaints received on the app in the district, 225 were genuine. As many as 211 complaints were disposed of in 100 minutes. She said the district administration had successfully implemented various measures to make the parliamentary elections in Udupi an eco-friendly one.

The Electronic Voting Machines of all five Assembly segments of Udupi district, along with the statutory documents, have been kept in the strongroom of the District Election Officer. A report in this regard has been sent to the Election Commission. The EVMs of four Assembly segments of the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru parliamentary seat — Chikkamagaluru, Sringeri, Tarikere and Mudigere — coming under Chikkamagaluru district, have already been transported to the District Election Officer of that district, she said.

There is a ban on sand removal from June 1 to July 31 as per a Union government notification because it is fish breeding season. The district administration is following rules and guidelines with regard to sand removal in the district. Instructions have already been given to the tahsildars, revenue inspectors, Panchayat Development Officers and Executive Officers to take precautionary measures to prevent flooding, Ms. Korlapati said.
