Nagpur: Unforgettable melodies of music composers Kalyanji and Anandji took the audience down memory lane at a programme organized by Shri Siddhivinayak Publicity at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines, on Saturday.
Sarang Joshi set the mood of romantic evening by presenting superhit song ‘Akele hai chale aao jahaan ho’, filmed on Rajesh Khanna.
Sagar Madhumatke’s soulful rendition of ‘Neele neele ambar par’ earned him repeated applause from the audience.
Famous numbers like ‘Yaari hai imaan mera’, ‘Pal pal dil ke paas’, ‘Kya khoob lagti ho’, ‘Har kisi ko nahi milta’ and ‘Laila mai Laila’ kept the audience glued to their seats.
The other singers were Arvind, Shivani Joshi and Shreya Kharabe.
The audience liked selection of songs and kept cheering the singers as the programme progressed. Some of the 26 songs presented at the programme got calls for ‘once more’.
Anchor Manoj Salpekar shared many interesting anecdotes behind the songs presented at the programme. Recalling an event, Salpekar said, “Kishore Kumar was once reluctant to go on stage to perform. It was Kalyanji and Anandji who prodded him to go and give his best. The legendary singer then captivated the audience in his charismatic style.”
Salpekar said the music industry was at its peak then and the contribution of Kalyanji and Anandji was immense.
Samir Pandit, who conceptualized the programme, thanked the audience.
