PUNE: Four men travelling in an autorickshaw robbed a 24-year-old employee of a software company of his gold chain, cash and mobile phone, collectively worth Rs39,500. The robbery happened in the early hours of Friday at Wakad.
Prakash Hadpat, a resident of Kalyan in
Thane district, has lodged an FIR with the Wakad police against the unidentified persons. Sub-inspector SB Babar of the Wakad police said that the complainant is an officer with the credit control department of a software company based in Mumbai.
“He had come to Pune for some official work. He reached Wakad in the early hours of Friday,” Babar said.
The officer pointed out that while the complainant was walking along the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass an autorickshaw stopped near him.
“There were four men in the vehicle as per the complaint registered with us. They threatened Hadpat of dire consequences with a sharp weapon,” Babar said.
The officer added, “They robbed Babar’s gold chain worth Rs30,000, his cell phone and Rs1,500, collectively worth Rs39,500 and fled from the spot.”
Babar said that a complaint has been registered under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act against the unidentified men. “We have launched a search for the suspects,” he said.
