Can The Audi Q8 Make A Statement Among Other SUV Coupes?

The Audi Q8 is no longer the newcomer to the SUV coupe party; that title goes to the Porsche Cayenne Coupe which, unsurprisingly, uses the same platform.

In fact, the MLB Evo architecture is widely spread among all of the VW Group’s large SUV. You’ll find it in everything, from the Touareg to the much more expensive Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. But each has different settings, with the focus being on offering either a dynamic or a comfortable driving experience. So, where does the Audi Q8 fit in?

In theory, it is a rival to the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. In practice, it’s a very comfortable cruiser, as pointed out by those who’ve driven it, including South Africa’s Cars, who sat inside a model that cost well over 1.6 million rand, or the equivalent of almost $111,000.

It was hard for the reviewer not to be mesmerized by the flying-carpet like feel provided by the optional air suspension, even with relatively low-profile tires, and by the quietness of the vehicle in the 55 TFSI variant. The typical Audi cabin has been much appreciated, too, with the three digital screens praised for stepping out of the ordinary.

You’re going to be disappointed in some aspects, however, and the expensive price tag is not the only one.

As the video review of the Q8 shared below points out, Audi’s SUV Coupe is not as luxurious as a Range Rover Sport, nor as dynamic as a Cayenne Coupe. Also, the fingerprints left on the screens after using them will probably drive some owners crazy. And these are only some of their observations; the rest are only a mouse-click away.
