KOLHAPUR: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities and affiliated colleges across the country to send the details pertaining to sexual harassment cases by July 31.
The UGC had asked the vice-chancellors of various universities to constitute an internal complaint committee (ICC) as well as a special cell to deal with issues of gender-based violence and to conduct gender sensitization programmes.

In a May 14 circular, UGC secretary Rajnish Jain directed the vice-chancellors to submit an annual return on cases of sexual harassment for the period of April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019, along with the details of the ICC, by July 31. JAin added in the circular that the information furnished would be compiled and submitted to the Union government.
