HYDERABAD: The Task Force team of Hyderabad police on Sunday nabbed a 33-year-old man from
Secunderabad for cheating 183 people of Rs 13 lakh by providing fake
insurance policy documents. The accused was identified as Gudimala Sreekanth, a resident of Anand Nagar in
Bowenpally.
The accused Sreekanth would introduce himself as an authorised agent of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd, Khairatabad branch, and claimed to arrange motor vehicle insurance policy through Bajaj Allianz at the lowest commission. To gain the confidence of people, he would also show an identity card and few insurance copies of Bajaj Allianz.
Believing him, the victims would give invoices and the premium amount for the policy. Later, he provided fake policy documents to them. So far, he has collected about 183 invoices along with the premium amount and delivered 129 fake policy documents in the name of Bajaj Allianz.
According to police, the accused earlier worked as a territory manager (TM) in Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company at ECIL, therefore he was aware of the Vehicle Insurance Policy system. The police seized the fake documents along with Rs 44,000 from his possession.
