The thunderstorm that lashed many parts of the district in the last two days left many trees uprooted and a few buildings damaged. A coconut tree at Vidya Nagar in Hassan fell on a car. A few electric poles were damaged resulting in loss of power supply to many areas in the city.
The sheet roof of primary health centre at Agile village in Hassan taluk was damaged owing to the strong wind during the rain. The rooms at the centre were inundated. There were reports of similar incidents in several parts of Arsikere and Channarayapatna.
The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation officials had a tough time restoring the faulty lines in the last two days. Several parts had no power supply for many hours.
In the last 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, the district recorded widespread rainfall measuring an average of 8.1 mm, against the normal of 4.3 mm. The highest rainfall of 37 mm was recorded at Navile village in Channaraypatna taluk.
