PUNE: Social security cell of the Pune
crime branch rescued three minor girls who were forced into
prostitution by none another their mother. The police have arrested the woman and an agent from
Kalepadal area in
Hadapsar on Friday.
Manisha Zende, senior inspector of the social security cell said that the girls have been sent to a rescue home. “We have launched a search for a woman agent who is on the run,” Zende told TOI.
She said that the police constable Dnyaneshwar Devkar has received a tip-off about a sex racket being run at a building located in Kalepadal in Hadapar. “We raided the flat on Saturday and found three minor girls were forced into prostitution. The girls are of the age between 15 and 17 years,” Zende said adding, “We have arrested the agent from the flat.”
She said that the probe revealed that girls’ mother was forcing them into prostitution. “The woman herself was involved in flesh trade,” Zende said.
She said the woman is widow and comes from very poor family background. She and her daughters are illiterate. “To run the family the woman entered into prostitution and later indulged her three daughters too,” Zende said adding, “A case has been registered against the woman and the agent with the Hadapsar police.”
In another raid, the police on Friday rescued a woman who was forced into prostitution by a suspect. The police team raided the flat in Jambhulwadi on a tip-off received by police constable Naresh Balsane and arrest the agent. A case against the suspect has been registered with the Bharati Vidyapeeth police.
