NEW DELHI: Almost two weeks after the
body of a man was found in a mutilated condition on railway tracks near
Sonipat, police arrested a 24-year-old final year engineering student for the
murder.
The accused, Ravi, was arrested after police questioned at least 18 people. Ravi, nabbed him from his house, had murdered Anil, who worked as the manager of a shop in Narela.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that he had gone to Narela railway station on May 7, to see off one of his relatives. Afterwards, Ravi had parked his bike next to a food stall to have some snacks.
Police said that Anil, who was passing by, accidentally brushed past the bike, which fell from the impact. This led to an argument between the two men. Ravi demanded money for the damages to his bike. Anil agreed and gave him Rs 2,000.
However, Ravi did not stop at this and later called Anil asking for more money. An argument ensued between them and when Anil refused to give any more money. Ravi went to his shop in Narela and started hitting him.
The accused thrashed Anil till he fell unconscious. He then pulled down the shutter and fled. In the night, Anil returned to the shop with his friend and dragged the body out of the shop. They then took the body to Sonipat in a car and dumped it on the railway tracks.
Later, a train went over the body, mutilating it. Next day, the cops found the body and informed Anil’s family. From the CCTV footage and evidences recovered from inside the shop, cops tracked Ravi and arrested him on Friday.
