Does The New BMW Z4 M40i Sound Good To You?

The introduction of the brand new Z4 has given BMW a modern sports roadster in its line up, with some considering it as a potential trouble maker for the Alpine A110 and Porsche Boxster as well despite the fact that, unlike these two, it still carries its engine up front.

The top-of-the-line version of the roadster is the M40i, which gets 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) in the Euro-spec model. That’s a sizeable 48 PS (47 hp / 35 kW) less than the U.S. model, which uses the same 3.0-liter turbocharged, inline-six – and you can blame it on the stricter emissions regulations in Europe.

In a straight line , the range-topping Z4 goes from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds and up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The North American variant is faster, taking only 3.9 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) as per BMW’s estimates. This puts it ahead of the 335 hp Toyota Supra by two tenths of a second.

Now, we already know that it’s quick and offers an engaging driving experience. The video reviews of the car made sure that nothing important is left aside, but does the new Z4 come with a good soundtrack, too? AutomannTV’s video, shared at the bottom of the page, has focused on that, revealing the exhaust note in different situations, complete with the usual crackles. So, does it sound good or should’ve they made it more sonorous? Let us know what you think in the Comments section below, after viewing the footage, of course.
