MADURAI
A 42-year-old man, who had several criminal cases against him, was decapitated in a brazen murder by an armed gang at Muthupatti under Subramaniapuram police limit on Saturday.
The chopped head of the victim R. Soundarapandian was taken away and thrown near a railway track in Vasantha Nagar by the gang, police sources said. Preliminary investigation has reportedly revealed that the murder was a revenge for a murder allegedly committed by Soundarapandian and a few others couple of years ago.
The armed gang is believed to have included a history-sheeter named ‘Pillaiyar’ Ganesh and his accomplices, the police said.
The incident happened, when the victim had come to his father-in-law’s place at Muthupatti. The gang came to the house, located on the second floor of the building, and hacked him to death. Police sources said that his father-in-law, who tried to resist the gang, sustained injuries. Subramaniapuram police are investigating.
