Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on May 27 to thank the people of his parliamentary constituency for his emphatic win that enabled his returning to power with an even bigger mandate than earlier. The district administration is busy making arrangements for Modi’s proposed visit.
Tweeting from his official handle on Saturday, the
PM wrote: “Will be going to Gujarat tomorrow evening to seek blessings of my mother. Day after tomorrow, I will be in Kashi to thank people of this great land for reposing their faith in me.”
Varanasi district magistrate Surendra Singh said, “PM Modi is likely to visit Varanasi on Monday morning. He would also visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple.”
Singh and SSP Varanasi Anand Kulkarni visited Kashi Vishwanath temple on Saturday to take stock of the security arrangements.
After offering prayers at Kashi Vishwanath temple, Modi will meet party workers at Trade Facilitation Centre in Bada Lalpur area, said president of BJP’s Kashi unit Mahesh Chandra Srivastava.
“All BJP workers who were involved in poll management activities would attend the programme,” Srivastava said.
“We haven’t received any intimation whether he will perform Ganga puja during his visit. We are yet to receive the detailed itinerary,” he added. As per reports, PM Modi will land at the Police Lines helipad from where he would proceed towards Kashi Vishwanath temple and will then return to Police Lines to fly to TFC.
Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders from Varanasi met PM Modi in New Delhi on Friday and handed over his victory certificate from the Election Commission of India.
PM’s election agent Vidya Sagar Rai had collected the certificate from the district election officer. Apart from Rai, the delegation comprised senior leaders Sunil Ojha, Laxman Acharya, Ashok Dhawan, Manish Kapoor, local MLAs Neelkanth Tiwari, Ravindra Jaiswal, Saurabh Srivastava, Surendra Narayan Singh, Neel Ratan Patel Neelu, city president Pradeep Agrahari and district president Hansraj Vishwakarma.
