Manchester United are considering Norwich City director of football Stuart Webber to fill their technical director vacancy, according to reports.
The Sun reports that Webber, who helped mastermind the Canaries’ return to the Premier League, is in the frame for the job at United which will be vital to overseeing the rebuild needed right now.
MEN Sport understands United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is putting together a transfer committee which, it is reported, Webber will sit on, along with some former players.

Bale's former boss on Welshman's future
Andre Villas Boas managed Gareth Bale during his purple patch at Tottenham.
And now amid rumours that the Welshman could put an end to his recent Real Madrid misery - having been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United - the Portuguese has had his say on Bale’s future.
This is what he told Omnisport:
“I have no idea what he wants to do.
He was extremely successful at Real Madrid. He left Tottenham to chase trophies and achieved that immediately, scoring in Champions League finals.
“Of course, at the moment, there’s a lot of bad noise surrounding him. A lot of criticism, (there is) probably not a lot of confidence from the coach right now.
“It looks more likely that he’s going to leave and you would expect him to go to England now.”
'Fergie excited by Daniel James signing'
With Manchester United closing in on the signing of Swansea’s Daniel James, it has been claimed Reds legend Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of the player.
According to Football Insider an Old Trafford source said: “Sir Alex is a massive admirer of Dan James and convinced he is destined for big things,” the source said. “He would never say that publicly and put too much pressure on him but he has been impressed by the kid.
“He doesn’t get too involved in our recruitment but he’s certainly excited by the signing of Dan James.”

United linked with Leipzig defender

Shaw going hard in pre-season
Good to see this from Luke Shaw, clearly putting in the hard yards ahead of a big season next term for Manchester United.
Greenwood's warning
Although some Manchester United fans greeted a recent Instagram post by James Wilson with somewhat desperate pleas for him to return to Old Trafford, the accepted view is that his imminent departure is neither a surprise nor something to mourn.
Wilson’s United career would never get better than his two-goal debut against Hull City in a 2014 season-ending dead rubber.
Yet his departure from the club five years after - and following numerous unsuccessful loan spells - might be a warning to current United wonderkid Mason Greenwood, who also made his first team debut in an end of season game. The Reds cannot afford a repeat of the Wilson situation with Greenwood.

Yorke looks ahead to treble game
Remember the Treble Reunion anniversary match between United and Bayern Munich legends takes place at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Dwight Yorke has been looking ahead - and looking back:
“This will bring back the memories of a lifetime.
“A unique bunch of players will be able to celebrate probably the greatest achievement in the history of Manchester United Football Club.
”The gaffer [Sir Alex] will love being out there and we, as players, will love to be led out again by the great man.
“It will be a magnificent day for us all; a day full of memories and joy.”

A De Gea replacement?
Manchester United are reportedly targeting a goalkeeper to replace David De Gea with contract talks stalling with the Spaniard.
Portuguese media outlet Record have claimed that Benfica’s Greek goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos is on United’s radar in case De Gea moves on this summer.
United want to keep De Gea, but could this be a contingency plan if he leaves?

Manchester United keen on £100m Richarilson'
Everton forward Richarlison is a transfer target for Manchester United, though they will have to pay £100million to sign him - all that is according to The Sun.
Barcelona have also been named as potential suitors for the Brazilian, who was named in his country’s Copa America squad this weke.
That fee may put United off, though the report claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ‘have been put on red alert’ over Richarlison.

Wilder confident of Henderson stay
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is confident that Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will extend his stay at Bramall Lane.
Henderson impressed to help the Blades win promotion last season and, as the MEN revealed, has held talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his future.
This is what Wilder said:
“We’ve been in discussions with Manchester United and I think they see it as a positive that he gets a year of Premier League football under his belt.
“I know Dean definitely wants to stop and our supporters absolutely adore him.
“We’ve got a good relationship with Manchester United and if Dean signs we’ll be delighted.”

United loanee in play-off final action
Manchester United loanee Regan Poole is very likely to start in the League Two play-off final for Tranmere against Newport County today.
MEN Sport understands Poole will be released by United at the expiry of his contract next month, but for now has a huge game to focus on.

Ramos... really?
Claims have been made in Spanish media over the past 24 hours that Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos.
Marca and El Chiringuito have reported that Ramos could leave after talks with Real president Florentino Perez., with AS naming United and Liverpool as interested parties. Juventus have also been linked.
A potential solution for the Reds at centre back? Or a power play by the Spaniard to secure another new deal? United fans are dubious...

Bruno Fernandes on his future
Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes has said it would be a ‘dream’ to play in England, amid transfer links to United.
He’s also been linked with Man City, but MEN Sport understands that City aren’t in for the player and United’s interest has been vastly overstated in some media reports.
Nevertheless...
“I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a very early age I have a dream of playing in England, where you can live pure football without big controversy, without big cases.
“Now, any of the other leagues, Germany, Spain and Italy are also very good and ambitious. But as I said I’m good at Sporting and now I’m focused on the cup. Then I want to make a good pre-season and if anything comes up I’m available to do what is best for the club.”

'Griezmann shouldn't join United'
Former West Ham and Portsmouth goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has told ESPN that Antoine Griezmann will not want to join Manchester United, as the Frenchman’s seemingly transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona stalls a touch.
Griezmann has been linked with United, but Hislop cast doubt on the likelihood of such a transfer.
“’I’m sure Manchester United are interested.
“Who wouldn’t be in Antoine Griezmann?
“First of all I don’t get this ‘I’m releasing a video’ thing, but anyway.
“This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
“Antoine Griezmann sees himself as the third best player in the world. Now, whether you agree with him or not, we can debate that separately.
“But that’s how he thinks.
“Does Antoine Griezmann leave Atletico Madrid to go to Manchester United and not play Champions League football? I don’t think so.
“I’ll put that one down as a miss.”
Robbie Savage tells United to sign Grealish
“If I were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the first signing on my list this summer would be Jack Grealish.
“Even if Aston Villa win promotion on Monday, Grealish is the player I would move heaven and earth to wear the red shirt of United. As the best player in the Championship, he would cost a lot for Solskjaer to buy.
“But Grealish glides past opponents, took on the Villa captaincy at a young age and thrived on the responsibility.
“Jack’s the lad. He’s the one United should be looking to sign ahead of anyone else.”

The transfer decision that could transform the Man Utd attack
The Manchester United attack began to misfire towards the end of the season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can make a big decision to begin to rebuild it this summer.
It revolves around those comments from Andy Cole and the school of thought that United might need to sell Romelu Lukaku and sign a striker from elsewhere.
Football writer Tyrone Marshall discussed the issue in depth here.

United battling Arsenal for Rabiot
Manchester United have been monitoring PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, MEN Sport understands, and hold some interest in signing him on a free this summer.
However, The Sun reports that Arsenal are in competition with United for Rabiot, having long been linked with the Frenchman.
Available on a free when his PSG contract expires soon, there will surely be a scramble for Rabiot’s signature.

Cole wants new United striker
Manchester United great Andy Cole believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be chasing a striker in the transfer window as the start of the manager’s summer rebuild.Manchester United great Andy Cole believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be chasing a striker in the transfer window as the start of the manager’s summer rebuild.
“Manchester United was always built on playing entertaining, galvanising football.
“The centre forwards score goals, the wide men score goals – and you do miss that.
“You do miss that because that’s what you’re supposed to do. You’ve got to score goals when you’re are Man United.
“So, no doubt Ole will look at that in the summer and say, ‘Right, where can I get more goals from? ‘Where am I looking to strengthen in the summer?’ and just go from there.”
Two Man Utd transfers that would help nullify Ander Herrera loss
How ironic it would be if Manchester United were to have the last laugh over PSG - who are almost certain to land outgoing midfielder Ander Herrera - which they undoubtedly would if either Adrien Rabiot or Thomas Meunier arrived in this transfer window.
Both PSG men have been heavily linked with United and this article here argues that signing either or both of them would go some of the way to repairing the damage caused by Herrera’s untimely exit.

Dybala issues update on his future
Juventus star Paulo Dybala has been linked with Manchester United and after some cryptic comments from his brother appeared set for a Juve exit. “There is a good chance he’ll leave Juventus,” said his brother and agent Gustav.
But this what the Argentine forward told Sky Italia (via CalcioMercato ) at an Adidas event in Milan:
“My brother’s statements? He spoke for himself.”
“I spoke to the club and [sporting director] Fabio Paratici and they know what I think.
“I want to stay at Juventus again next year, I want to continue playing here.
“It is obvious that Juventus must make their choices, also based on the new manager that will arrive. However, I want to stay here.”
Marcos Rojo addresses Man Utd future and confirms talks with other club
Marcos Rojo says he has received assurances from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he has a future at Manchester United despite making just eight appearances last season.
The defender’s campaign was plagued by injuries and a loss of form, with Rojo spending the March international break training with former club Estudiantes in Argentina.
The 29-year-old made three appearances during the final eight league games of United’s Premier League season, but failed to complete 90 minutes.
Rojo confirmed that his absence prompted Boca Juniors to inquire about his services, but insists he wants to fight for his place at Old Trafford.
“For now I would like to stay at United,” he told Argentine outlet El Día. “I spoke to the manager before the end of the season and we spoke about his plans for me.

It is claimed that the Reds have been monitoring the 22-year-old since his time in the PSG academy.
