SURAT: Ketan Chorvadiya, a trader who helped students escape the coaching centre, told TOI, “Firefighters were advising students not to jump and wait for their hydraulic platform. After helping the eight students on one side of the building, I climbed to the second floor and grabbed the hand of a little girl who was trying to jump. I told her to wait, but she lost her balance and fell.”
“Fire officers extended the ladder after 20 minutes after most children had jumped out. Only three people were rescued after that. We waited for the platform, but it arrived after 45 minutes,” he added.
