Newborn girl abandoned in Gandhinagar district

AHMEDABAD: A newborn girl was found abandoned on a bench in waiting room on Platform No.1 at Kalol railway station in Gandhinagar district on Thursday.
An FIR filed by the stationmaster, Sunil Pandit, at Kalol police station says that he was on his duty when he found the girl, four of five days old, on the bench on Thursday.
Pandit took the girl and called an ambulance, after which she was sent to Kalol Community Health Centre (CHC). Kalol police registered a case under Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years, by parent or person having care of it) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), against the unidentified parents.
