Governor ESL Narasimhan invites Jaganmohan Reddy to form next government in Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: YSRCP leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad and staked claim to form the next government in Andhra Pradesh. Jaganmohan Reddy who met the governor along with a few senior leaders of the party, submitted the resolution letter of the legislature party which elected him as its leader. The governor accepted the letter and invited Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to form the government in AP. The swearing-in will take place on May 30 at Indira Gandhi stadium in Vijayawada.
The election took place at Jagan’s Velagapudi residence in Andhra Pradesh as the 151 YSRCP MLAs elected him as leader of the legislature party. In the assembly results which were declared on May 23, YSRCP won 151 out of 175 seats.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister-elect Y S Jaganmohan Reddy arrived to a tumultuous welcome in Hyderabad when he arrived at the Begumpet airport from Tadepalli in Andhra Pradesh. He came in a special flight from the Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada.
After his election as YSRCP’s legislature party leader at his residence on Saturday morning, Jaganmohan Reddy flew to Hyderabad to meet governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan. Hundreds of people thronged the Begumpet airport and Raj Bhavan to welcome Jaganmohan Reddy.
YSRCP supporters from different districts of AP congregated at the Begumpet airport and near Raj Bhavan and displayed their enthusiasm at Jaganmohan Reddy’s victory. Hundreds of people from the city and also neighbouring districts of Hyderabad came to Begumpet and Raj Bhavan with the hope that they would be able to meet him or wave to him.
Jaganmohan Reddy drove in a high security convoy from the airport to Raj Bhavan. Traffic was stopped from the airport to Raj Bhavan to facilitate a free drive for the YSRCP leader. This is the first time that Jaganmohan Reddy is coming to the city after results of the AP elections were out on May 23. Only a day prior to announcement of results, he had shifted to his Tadepalli residence.
During his meeting with the governor, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy submitted to him the letter of his unanimous election as legislature party leader. Jaganmohan Reddy will be sworn in as chief minister of AP at the Indira Gandhi stadium in Vijayawada on May 30. The stadium has a capacity to fit in 40,000 people.
In the assembly elections, the YSRCP swept to power bagging 151 out of 175 seats defeating the incumbent TDP government. In the Lok Sabha elections, the party won 22 out of 25 seats.

From the Begumpet airport, party supporters put up welcome boards right up to the Lotus Pond residence of Jaganmohan Reddy in the city. Huge hoardings were also put up at Begumpet welcoming him.
A number of supporters of the YSRCP leader also thronged Pragathi Bhavan to cheer him. After meeting governor ESL Narasimhan, the YSRCP leader drove to Pragathi Bhavan to meet Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Some ministers in Telangana cabinet and senior leaders also reached Pragathi Bhavan to meet Jaganmohan Reddy.
