Amul announced a two-rupee increase in the price of
milk,
Mother Dairy said it raise
prices in Mumbai by up to Rs 3 per litre from Sunday.
Mother Dairy's cow milk is three rupees costlier. It will now sell for Rs 45 per litre up from Rs 42 while a half litre pack is revised to Rs 23 as against Rs 21. The premium variety of full cream milk goes up by a rupee to Rs 55 per litre, up from Rs 54, and Rs 28 for 500 ml over Rs 27 earlier. Full cream milk has risen from Rs 52 to Rs 53 for a litre and Rs 26 to Rs 27 for half litre.
A press release issued by the dairy said, "Milk procurement prices have been continuously on the rise for the last 3-4 months due to increase in feed and fodder cost by 15-20% and labour cost. Mother Dairy passes close to 80% of the sales realization to the farmers."
The dairy increased rates in the national capital region (NCR) Saturday while the hike in Mumbai takes effect a day later.
"We last implemented a price increase in March 2017. In
Maharashtra, we have a presence in Mumbai and Nagpur where we sell a cumulative volume of 2.5 lakh litres per day," said the company spokesman.
