Agaram Foundation has come forward to improve sporting facilities at Madrasa-E-Azam

The 200-year-old Madrasa-E-Azam Higher Secondary School for boys on Anna Salai is on the course for getting a new hockey ground and a running track, with Agaram Foundation offering a helping hand.

Set on sixteen acres of land, the school has a vast playground, and it has been offering free coaching to its students in a variety of sports, including football, hockey, boxing, table tennis and archery.

The school has a great track record in terms of its students getting selected to hockey and football teams at the district and state level.

For such sportspersons from the school, the alumni association and parent teacher association offers some funding.

Against this backdrop, the Agaram Foundation has offered to improve the sports facilities at the institution, which includes renovation of the school playground. The most significant part of the exercise is providing the institution with a new hockey ground and a running track.

The Foundation set to work on this project in April. The measurements have been taken and the ground has been levelled.

“Owing to the student’s good performance in sports I have made a proposal to the government to promote the school into a modern sports school”, says Sundara Vadivelu, the headmaster of the school.
