AMBALA: Police here have registered two separate cases of
illegal mining based on the complaints of mining officers.
In the first incident, assistant mining officer Sunil Kumar lodged a complaint with Naraingarh police stating, “On May 21, I along with mining guards Dayal Singh and Jaspal Singh inspected Hamidpur village where we found a JCB machine and three tippers were being used to carry out illegal mining in
Markanda riverbed. We impounded the vehicles which are currently in police custody.”
As per the information, an FIR has been registered mentioning the registration number of the tippers and a JCB machine. A case against unknown person under Section 21 (4)(a) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act and sections 188 and 379 of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Naraingarh police station.
In the second incident, district mining officer Bhupinder Singh lodged a complaint with Shahzadpur police station, alleging that, “Three accused identified as Gurjant Singh, Mann Singh, and Hardev Singh, residents of Banondi village were carrying out illegal mining near Begna river in Banondi village. The accused fled the spot along with tractor-trolley filled with sand upon spotting the mining officials.”
A case under Section 21 (3) and 21(4) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act has been registered against the accused.
