THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of wide-spread complaints that certain schools were demanding money from students seeking admission to Plus One course in higher secondary schools, the higher secondary directorate has formed vigilance squads for conducting surprise inspections at schools.

According to a government order issued here on Friday, district- and state-level squads have been set up to find out the schools demanding money illegally from students. "The school authorities of all higher secondary schools have been given instructions to avoid any kind of illegal collection of fee/fund other than prescribed fee and approved PTS fund during the admission process. But even after repeated instructions certain school authorities are still trying to collect fee/fund illegally from students/parents. The wilful disobedience on the part of those school authorities are viewed seriously," the order said.
The first allotment list was published on the other day. The admission process based on the first allotment list, which began on Friday would conclude on Monday.
