Armed with the mandate from BJP parliamentary party and newly elected NDA lawmakers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday staked claim with the President Ram Nath Kovind to form government.

PM Narendra Modi arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan late evening on Saturday to meet President Ram Nath Kovind.
President Kovind inducted Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India and invited him to form the government.
"Exercising powers vested in him under Article 75 (1) of the Constitution of India, President Ram Nath Kovind, today appointed Narendra Modi to the office of Prime Minister of India", President of India twitter handle sent a tweet.
The President also requested Narendra Modi to advise him about the names of others to be appointed members of the Union Council of Ministers; and to indicate the date and time of the swearing-in-ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Earlier, the leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) met President Kovind with letters of support to Modi from all NDA constituent parties. The NDA delegation led by BJP president Amit Shah handed over to the President, a letter citing that Narendra Modi had been elected leader of the BJP-led NDA Parliamentary Party.
The NDA returned to power with a massive majority in the Lok Sabha elections with the BJP alone bagging 303 of total 542 seats contested.
