Indore: A youth was arrested for setting five vehicles on fire in Banganga area on Friday. The accused confessed to his crime and told police that he did it to take revenge from a bike owner who owed him money. According to Banganga police station incharge Indramani Patel, the incident took place in Govind Colony on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Ayush Jain of the colony informed the police that his tenant saw flames outside his house and raised an alarm. Ayush came out of house and saw five two-wheelers burning. With the help of local residents, Ayush managed to douse the fire.
The residents told the police that they searched for a culprit but could not find him. Police scanned CCTVs installed around the spot and took statements of Ayush and other vehicle owners. On Friday, police detained a youth named Dilip Sen of Aerodrome area who later confessed to the crime. The accused told the police that he had given Rs10,000 to Ayush, who was not returning it back. He said that when Ayush refused to return his money he set his bike on fire to take revenge. The accused said that he set only Ayush’s vehicle on fire but the flames spread and burnt other vehicles too.
