Brad Scott prepares to coach North Melbourne for last time

Brad Scott has all but confirmed that today's match against Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium will be his last as North Melbourne coach.

Only an hour or so before the match, Scott said that he would address a media conference on Sunday.

"I'm working really hard like all professionals do, trying to stay right in the moment focused on what's right in front of us," he told 3AW.

"There'll be plenty of time for prognostications and reviews and things in time, but it's obviously a bit of a tumultuous time for us. But I'll expand more on that at the press conference tomorrow. Right now we need to focus on the job at hand and my big task is to get the players' heads back in the game."

Scott said he had "no idea" what his future held after just short of nine seasons in charge at North Melbourne.

He said he took up his first opportunity to speak to his players on Saturday morning at the ground, the news having broken late on Friday that his tenure was about to end. "I would have really liked the opportunity to do that earlier. Unfortunately that was the first chance I got to do that."

Asked what the players' response had been, he said: "It's fair to say they're agitated ... I just keep stressing that we've got a job to do."

Scott, who is contracted until the end of 2020, is believed to have reached an agreement with the North Melbourne board to step aside.

Assistant coaches Rhyce Shaw and Darren Crocker are favoured to take control for the rest of a season in which North has struggled to just two wins so far.

Scott was graceful in his toughest time. “I’ll always do what’s bests for this football club. I still maintain that anyone who’s had the privilege of either working for or playing for a club at AFL level receives a lot more than they give, and that’s certainly the case for me. North Melbourne have given me an incredible opportunity and I’m forever grateful for it.”
