In a major shuffle, state transfers 15 IPS officers

As soon as the model code of conduct ended, the state government on Friday transferred 15 IPS officers from across the state; many of them have been moved to Mumbai. The post of Joint Commissioner (Traffic) in the city had fallen vacant after the transfer of Amitesh Kumar. In his place, the state appointed Thane Joint Commissioner Madhukar Pandey, even though several IPS officers were in the race.


Pune Additional Commissioner Ravindra Sengaonkar was appointed as Commissioner of Railway Police, Mumbai, while the GRP Commissioner Niket Kaushik was appointed as Inspector General (IG) of Police, Konkan. The IG of Konkan Range, Naval Bajaj, was appointed as Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police’s administration wing.

Ravindra Shisve, Additional Commissioner (Protection), Mumbai, was promoted and appointed as Joint Commissioner of Pune Police. The IG (Establishment) Rajkumar Vhatkar, who had spent many years in the Director General’s office is now Joint Commissioner of Navi Mumbai Police, while Additional Commissioner Rajesh Pradhan of north Mumbai was promoted and appointed in his place.

In Mumbai, some deputy commissioners have been promoted as additional commissioners. DCP Anil Kumbhare of Zone 8 is now Additional Commissioner in Thane, looking after administration. DCP Navin Chandra Reddy is now posted as DIG in State Reserve Police at Pune. DCP D Chavan of Zone 2 has been promoted as Additional Commissioner in-charge of protection. DCP Dilip Sawant of Crime Branch is now Additional Commissioner of north Mumbai, while Satyanarayan Choudhary of Thane police is now DIG of VIP security. Another big round of transfers of deputy commissioners in the state is expected next week.
