A seven-year-old boy who died in a horrific two car crash alongside a father-of-two has been remembered as a beautiful child.

A GoFundMe page described Mehali Anastasios Pastrikos as a 'true Darwin kid' after the boy was killed in a double fatal crash at Tiger Brennan Drive, Darwin on Wednesday.

'Mehali is a very loved and beautiful boy,' the page read. 'A true Darwin kid who loved spending time with his dad and going fishing.'  

The seven-year-old had been riding as a passenger in a Rav4, before the vehicle collided with a Ford Ranger, NT News reported. `

Fellow passenger and father Wade Williams, 21, was also killed and their 24-year-old woman driver taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she remains in a stable state. 

The 42-year-old driver of the Ford Ranger is understood to have been driving back from work, before his vehicle struck the Rav4.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and underwent assessment in the emergency department. 

Commander Matt Hollamby said initial inquiries into the crash pointed to speed as a likely cause. 

'It would appear that a car was going too fast and ran a red light and T-boned another car,' he said.

'Speed appears to be a factor, running a red light appears to be a factor and our investigation will determine if there are any other causes or factors.' 

The news of the death has sent shockwaves throughout the community and sparked a fundraiser to help the family of the young boy killed in the crash.

'I have decided to set up this go fund to help the family with any cost that may arise,' the page reads.

The page has already brought in close to $11,000, with one generous donor giving $2,500 and lifting the total to well above the intended $8,000 target.
