Around 700 tour guides from all over Brazil are gathered for the Congress which is organized by National Federation of Tourism Guides (FENAGTUR) and the 18 state unions of the category.
The event is held at the Hotel Pestana Convento do Carmo, in the Historic Center of Salvador.
Tour guides are classified by the Ministry of Tourism as specialized in natural or cultural attractions, regional guides, national tour guides and international tour guides. They are the professionals who have the most contact with the tourist and are qualified to accompany and assist the visitors and transmit information during the tours, besides ensuring the comfort and safety of the passengers.
The national registry of tourism service providers of the Ministry of Tourism (Cadastur) currently has 22,000 tourism guides. The registration of the professional is mandatory for the exercise of the activity.
Fenagtur expects to interview at least 30% of Cadastur’s professionals operating throughout Brazil.
“Knowing the tourist market and the real performance of the tourism guide in this context, in addition to its main needs and expectations, is essential for the organization to meet the year’s expectations for the category,” said the president of the federation, Henrique Dantas.
