When it comes to the Cannes Film Festival 2019 - it's been a rollercoaster so far.

The starriest red carpet came courtesy of Cannes veteran Quentin Tarantino and his movie Once Upon A Time in Hollywood with A listers Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie all out.

However don't think being a mega star is necessarily easy - even Leo admitted like his character finds, Hollywood can be tough: (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR, LEONARDO DICAPRIO, SAYING: "Look, I grew up in this industry, I know this town, so many of my friends are actors, I know how hard it is to get work.

I know how lucky I was to be in the right place at the right time and had that not happened my life would be drastically different." Meanwhile Selina Gomez who starred in Jim Jarmush's opening film The Dead Don't Die - shared her views on social media: (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS AND SINGER, SELENA GOMEZ, SAYING: "Social media has really been terrible for my generation.

I understand that it's amazing to use your platform but it does scare me when you see how exposed these young girls and young boys are." There was some love in the air, Tarantino was accompanied by his new wife Daniella Pick and gushed about her at his news conference: (SOUNDBITE) (English) FILM DIRECTOR, QUENTIN TARANTINO, SAYING: "I just got married six months ago.

And I've never done that before and now I know, now I know why, I was waiting for the perfect girl." There were lots of events and parties - Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas amongst many enjoying some bubbles.

The annual Women in Motion event was also a starry night, with guests including Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria and the evening's winner - China's Gong Li.

But it's not all been fun and games - it wouldn't be Cannes without a bit of controversy, actor Alain Delon's special Palme d'Or splitting opinion.

There was a protest too.

The weekend saw the carpet turned green by protesters from documentary 'Let it be Law' - striking out against Argentina's restrictive abortion laws.

When it comes to women in film, this year four women are competing in the main competition - director Mati Diop is one of them and she also made history as the first black woman director to compete for the Palme d'Or.

And who could forget Elton John, ''Rocketman'' is not in the main competition but it certainly got us all talking.

So then the 72nd Cannes Film Festival is due to close on May 25, when the jury will decide the winner of this year's Palme d'Or.
