Warning.

The good news...no injuries have been reporte dthroughout the area.

Good evening once again.

New details in the fatal crash that sent a sheriff's deputy to the hospital following a police chase... new york state police and the otsego county sheriffs department held a joint press conference today... news channel 2's caitlin irla was there and is live in the studio with updates...caitlin.

Gary, this is still an ongoing investigation... but we now know exactly how this incident happened.

"otsego county recieved a call, it was a stalking a woman was being stalked."

Captain scott heggelke with state police says this all started because 23-year-old matthew all of sharon springs was harrassing a the coworker.

"this has been an ongoiung course of action thats been taking place here for a little over a year.

The victim actually pulled the into the richfield springs station.

Mr. all actually side swiped her vehicle, got out struck the vehicle and was alleged that he pulled a knife on her."

After that encounter, all convinced the victim to go to a more public area.

They both went the down to the village of richfield springs where state police then located them.

"they approached the vehicle that mr all was in and went to speak with him, they spoke with him very very brieflyhe took off, made a uturn and speed east bound on route 20 in springfield.

" after all speed off, state police contacted the otsego county sheriffs department to see if anyone was in the area.

Deputy james mateunic was sitting stationaryt in the lane of traffic at the intersection of route20 and state route 80.

"as the vehilce was traveling eastbound at the intersection, the vehicle struck deputy mateunic head on the impact was so great it knocked te deputys vehicle about 200 feet before it came to rest " all was killed in the crash.

Was not wearing a seatbelt from multiple tramatic blunt force injuries.

State police are still trying to determine if this was an accident or not.

But captain heggle-key says it looks as if it was intentional "all the evidence indicates that it was intentional act where he struck the deputy head on theres nothing to say that the car lost control and there was no evidence of braking before the collision took place."

As for the deputy involved... we're told he is still in the hospital in stable condition.
