Samsung is reportedly planning to launch a new rugged smartphone under its Xcover series. The upcoming handset will reportedly be called Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4S and the phone has appeared on a Dutch e-commerce portal. The device will arrive as a successor to the Galaxy Xcover 4, which was launched more than two years ago.

The e-tailer’s listing for the Samsung Xcover 4S, first spotted by GalaxyClub, suggests that the phone will have a retail price of €249 (~Rs 19,500). To recall, the Xcover 4 was launched for €259 (~Rs 20,000). Furthermore, the retailer suggests that the new Xcover model will be in stock in early June. The GalaxyClub report says that the handset will be initially released in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The Xcover 4S is said to boot Android 9 Pie out of the box. Just like its predecessor, the new Xcover offering is also expected to flaunt MIL-STD 810G rating, which will make it impervious to water, dust, extreme temperatures, and impacts. We can also speculate that the Xcover 4 will have physical keys for navigation and a highly sensitive display that can be operated even while wearing gloves. Sadly, no other details about the phone are available at the moment.

Talking about the two-year-old Xcover 4, the phone arrived with a compact 4.99-inch HD display. The handset is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor, aided by paltry 2GB of RAM, at least for the present standards. The device features 16GB of native storage, which can be further increased by inserting a microSD card. As for the other features, the Xcover 4 offers a 13-megapixel primary shooter at the rear, and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS, and NFC. A 2,800mAh battery completes the list of the specs.
