PCR cops assaulted, 2 arrested

Ludhiana: The Tibba police on Thursday have arrested two one accused for sexually harassing two girls and his accomplice for assaulting PCR cops when the cops tried to arrest the first accused. At around 11 pm on Wednesday two cousins were walking in their locality after dinner when accused Sandeep, Mintu and their unidentified accomplice crossed by them on their bike. Meanwhile mobile of one of the accused fell off after which the girls stopped them and handed over their mobiles. After receiving mobile the accused started harassing girls. Residents gathered there and sounded police.

On receiving compliant, PCR cops Rakesh Kumar and Kamal Kumar reached on spot. When the cops tried to take accused in custody, they called another accomplice Mandeep and all accused overpowered PCR cops. PCR cop, head constable Rakesh Kumar told, “The accused overpowered us and stopped us from take them to police station. They also manhandled us after which we called more force on the spot.”
The SHO at police station Tibba, Inspector Paramjit Singh said that the police have registered two cases in this matter and arrested two accused, Mandeep and Sandeep. Further official told that, one case has been registered against the accused under sections of 354 (Sexual harassment), 354-B (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 294 (obscene acts), 506 (Criminal intimidation) and 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intension) of IPC. In another case, on the compliant of HC Rakesh Kumar, FIR is lodged against Mandeep, Sandeep, Mintu and their unidentified accomplice under sections of 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public function), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant form his duty), 34 (Act done by several persons in furtherance of common intension) of IPC.
