KCR misses 17-seat bus\, lands only 6

Having suffered an embarrassing setback in the Lok Sabha just after sweeping the Assembly polls in December 2018, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is one of the most disappointed politicians now.

As against his target of winning 16 of the 17 seats along with AIMIM to play a key role in a non-BJP and non-Congress coalition government at the Centre, KCR’s party ended up with just six seats. BJP and Congress bagged four each. AIMIM retained its Hyderabad seat. KCR’s strategy to go in for early polls didn’t pay him the anticipated dividends.

Influence Among Regional Parties
Senior TRS leaders were disappointed at the failure of their supremo’s plan of consolidating the regional parties.

Expert Take
“KCR stands to lose whatever little role he was attempting to garner in national politics by consolidating the regional parties,” said political analyst Lakshminarayana Thunga.

“Forget about playing a role in national or regional politics, the TRS supremo will now have to extend unconditional support to Modi and settle for a second fiddle.”
