Students strike for climate change

3 a strike brought a big turnout this afternoon.?people came out to tackle the topic of climate change.?students, parents, professors and city leaders all took turns speaking on the issue.?they shared a message that change begins with yourself.?speakers encouraged people to recognize their own habits contributing to the climate crisis.?they also encouraged people to bring their climate concerns to local and state lawmakers.?

?the protest organizers say being a leader doesn't have one age.

3<it shoes the community <it shoes the <it shoes the community that you don't have to be an adult or an older person to make a difference and when a group of really passionate teenagers come together, we can make a difference.> 3 this protest was global strike happening today called fridays for future movement.the students plan t host another strike later this year.

3purdue university hosted it's 4th annual memorial day service at purdue memorial union this afternoon.this year the event focused on honoring vietnam veterans.they displayed a photo collage of all the veterans who've once walked the halls of purdue.the ceremony included decommissioning an american flag.the flag they cut apart was once flown over purdue.

Event coordinators explained their process of cutting each piece of the flag.for attendees, it was an impactful event.

3<sot: very emotional, you can see people in the audience were very affected by it, myself as well just because you think about all of the people who have been lost.sot: i hope i remember these things more often then i do to be completely honest and that others do as well.sot: you think of everybody that was lost so it's really neat.> this year was the first time the memorial has done a photo collage of former purdue veterans.
