Drug smuggling racket: In a major crackdown, Ludhiana Rural Police have recovered 35 quintal Poppy husk and busted drug smuggling racket on Friday. Giving information, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana (Rural) said that they received information that Pippal Singh and Nishan Singh, the habitual offenders and lodged in jail were operating smuggling network from Jail.

On their directions, Bachitter Singh and Mannu has brought consignment of poppy husk from Gurparmjit Singh alias Pamma, Gurdeep Singh alias Deepu in a truck number. SSP said that three vehicles were escorting truck and following the information Police teams stopped two Scorpio vehicles coming from village Rama side and detained the drivers identified as Gurparmjit Singh and Gurdeep Singh.

While checking the vehicles, the 20 polythene bags were recovered from the rear seats of vehicle. Each bag contained 35 kg poppy husk. SSP said that total 14 quintal of poppy husk was recovered from these vehicles from later they impounded a truck and recovered 61 bags of poppy husk. The total 101 bags containing 35 quintal Poppy husk was recovered. SSP added that the arrested accused was facing criminal cases. They also bring accused operating network from jail and further investigate the matter.
