Moving car catches fire in Chakeri

Kanpur:A moving Mercedes car caught fire on the Jajmau-Ramadevi flyover in Chakeri area on Friday morning.
The car driver, Manoj, saved his life by jumping out of the moving car and suffered minor injuries. Manoj said the incident took place when he was going to pick a passenger from the airport.
He said the car developed some technical snag possibly in its engine after he reached JK First crossing at Jajmau-Ramadevi flyover and fire broke out inside the vehicle. He said he tried to douse the flames but in vain.
“I jumped out of the car after it was engulfed by the fire,” he said.
“Passersby alerted the fire brigade but till the fire tenders arrived, the car was completely reduced to ashes,” he added.
