Interstate gang who conned people busted in Rajkot

RAJKOT: A Jaipur-based man has been arrested by the Junagadh police for allegedly cheating a woman on the pretetxt of installing a mobile tower at her place.
A resident of Junagadh town, Hasmita Jaria approached the police that she received a message on her mobile phone a few months ago asking for 250-square-feet place for installation of a mobile tower. The message also described that mobile company will pay Rs 35 lakh advance and monthly rent of Rs 45,000 to her. When Jaria called on that number the person on the other hand said he is speaking from Dolphin Tower Services and asked the lady about her ownership over the land.
The second day the lady was asked to pay Rs 5,150 as entry fee into a bank account. Thereafter, he sent some documents over email and again asked the woman to pay Rs 61,250. The other documents like requirement form, terms and condition were sent by courier. Thereafter when the communication broke up the lady verified the documents and found them false. She approached police when she realized that she has been cheated.
Junagadh Superintendent of Police Saurabh Singh said, “We initiated investigation based on technical source and bank details and we came to know that account is opened on fake identity proof, but with the photograph he submitted to the bank we nabbed him.”

The police reached Jaipur in Rajasthan and nabbed Ravi Chowhan, 32, from Nirmal Vihar area. Police recovered mobile phones and sim cards of various mobile operators, ATM card and passbooks of various banks from his possession.
During the interrogation he confessed that he had conned the complainant. The accused is a taxi driver. He also confessed before the police that he was working for Jitu Chowdhri of Mathura and Somendra allias Dada of Kanpur and they are running a gang of online fraud in Kolkota and Noida and other cities.
