Maninagar police sources said while vote counting was under way and cops were busy with bandobust duty, a team rushed to the hospital. “We got there in time and got the situation under control. We are registering an FIR,” a Maninagar police official said.
Police sources said the relatives of a patient admitted to the hospital wanted to meet him but as they had come outside the visiting hours, the bouncer at the trauma ward stopped them.
“This got the relatives agitated and they got violent with the bouncer, Barot, who suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital,” a police source said.
Hospital staff, following the second violent episode at the hospital in three days, demanded armed security, in the form of jawans of the state reserve police, a hospital source said.
