Black Caps bowling coach Shane Jurgensen says it’s unlikely Tom Latham will play against India on Saturday.

Tom Latham
London:
The wicketkeeper is recovering from a finger injury and while Jurgensen says he’s making progress, the chances are he won’t be available for New Zealand’s first warm-up game at the Cricket World Cup, at the Oval, this weekend.
“He’s going well, he’s improving all the time,” Jurgensen said. “He caught some tennis balls today, which is a really good start.
“Probably unlikely for the first warm-up game, but he’s improving really well and each day. So we’ll take it as it comes and see how it develops over the next week or so.”
The 27-year-old Latham picked up the injury during the final warm-up match in Australia, playing with a New Zealand XI side.
While Latham needed to have a splint on the finger when the team flew out of New Zealand last weekend, his participation at the World Cup was never in serious doubt.
With the team having arrived in England, the squad trained at Whitgift School in South Croydon on Wednesday and looked to blow out the cobwebs. “It was a good day to get outdoors after our long flight over,” Jurgensen said.
“We’ve had 24 hours to have a day off and rest and get the boys outdoors, have a bit of a run around, a stretch and a feel for conditions in England.
Today, we simply did some fielding, the guys had a good run around and few games, just get a bit of a buzz in terms of the squad and everyone gelling together.
It’s been a while since we’ve been together as a team, around two months,” he added.
“So it’s good to get outdoors and get amongst ourselves as a group, do a bit of fielding and have a bit of a run around. Some guys had a bit of a bowl also. It was one of those days where guys get a bit of a feel for what they want to do.”
