Gujarat: Jayanti Bhanushali murder accused caught drinking in sub-jail

Cops begin probe about jail officials’ nexus with the accused
AHMEDABAD: Bhuj Police on Wednesday nabbed five prisoners including, Jayanti Thakkar of Abdasa in Kutch — a key accused in the sensational murder of BJP leader Jayanti Bhanushali, having a liquor party with four others in Bhachau sub-jail. The cops were surprised when they came to know that the man named Razak Turk is not a prisoner, but was brought into the jail illegally as his personal attendent.
IG, Border Range, D G Vaghela said that a cellphone was also recovered from Thakkar and two separate complaints have been registered against the accused in Bhachau police station. “We are also registering a case of trespassing as he brought Razak illegally into the jail. We are probing the role of some jail officials as to how Thakkar managed to bring in a personal attendant into the jail,” Vaghela said.
IG Vaghela said that during a surprise check in barrack number 2 of Bhachau sub jail on Wednesday, Jayanti Thakkar, 54, Rajuram Naik, 35, Haji Arab Khasdeli, 23, Rahul Ram Shankar Pandey, 25, and Razak Turk, 39, were caught having a liquor party.
The main accused in Bhanushali murder case, Chabil Patel, had admitted before CID crime that Jayanti Thakkar was actively involved in the murder of Bhanushali and had given Rs 5 lakh to sharpshooters of Pune for the contract killing.

CID crime sources said Thakkar had also promised to pay more to the killers of Bhanushali. Chabil Patel, then a BJP leader, had wanted to eliminate Bhanushali in conspiracy with a woman, Manisha Goswami, who held a grudge against Bhanushali in relation to a rape case filed by her against the deceased.
Police sources said that on Sunday Gujarat ATS had arrested Sitaram Dhotre, 40, of Pune for his alleged involvement in the Bhanushali murder case. ATS sources said Dhotre was one of the contract killers who had been hired by Chabil Patel to eliminate Bhanushali.
