Ecstatic after BJP’s historic victory, even PM Narendra Modi’s mother Hiraba chanted ‘Modi, Modi’ as she cheered on the crowd gathered outside the house to congratulate her. The mood at Raisan village in Gandhinagar was of celebration as it became clear that Modi would return as the prime minister for a second term.
By afternoon, as trends suggested that the BJP and Modi were headed for a resounding victory, supporters gathered atVrundavan Bungalows where the PM’s nonagenarian mother Hiraba lives with her younger son Pankaj Modi. They also raised slogans in support of Narendra Modi .
Soon after, Hiraba made a brief appearance, accompanied by Pankaj Modi and other family members and greeted the crowd with a ‘namaskar’ and cheering on with ‘Modi, Modi’. On his part, Pankaj Modi accepted the congratulations for the win with a ‘thank you’ but refrained from making a comment.
“This victory has been achieved under the leadership of Narendrabhai is overwhelming. We bow before the people of the country for approval given by them for the second time,” he said.
He said while he has not talked to his famous elder brother, they were in touch. “We and our families are happy,” he said.
