Road-Going Alpine A110 GT4 Spied, Could Get As Much As 296 HP

Alpine introduced the track-only A110 GT4 at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and it appears it is now working on a road-going variant.

Caught wearing a livery inspired by the race car, the prototype is noticeably less aggressive as it eschews the ventilated carbon fiber hood and adopts a smaller front splitter. The model has also been equipped with a compact rear wing that features orange “A110 GT4” lettering on the top.

Little else is known about the car, but it’s apparently street-legal as it has been spotted on public roads around the Nürburgring. If this is the case, Alpine could be taking a page out from the Porsche playbook, who is developing a road-going 718 Cayman GT4 inspired by their 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The hardcore A110 is expected to be loosely based on the A110 Cup that comes with a track-tuned suspension with adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers and a 40mm (1.6 inch) reduced ride height, a roll cage and a magnesium Brembo braking system.

Power is provided by a mid-mounted, turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder that has been outfitted with a racing exhaust and a high-flow air filter. These changes enable the mill to produce 266 hp (199 kW / 270 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential transmission which sends power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential.

Rumors suggest the road-going A110 GT4 could be even more powerful as reports have indicated the model could have around, getting as much qs 296 hp (221 kW / 300 PS). That remains unconfirmed, but we will find out soon enough as the coupe could be introduced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which kicks off on July 4th.
