AMETHI: Union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani is leading against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 4,900 votes, after the first round of counting.
Overall, the NDA is currently leading in 28 seats, while UPA is ahead in 14 constituencies, as per trends at 09.00 AM.
Amethi Lok Sabha Constituency
Amethi Lok Sabha constituency seat of Uttar Pradesh is currently held by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi. This seat has been mostly held by the Indian National Congress (INC). Rahul Gandhi held the seat for the longest period, from 2004 to present. Amethi seat had also been held by the former party president Sonia Gandhi, late Rajiv Gandhi, and Sanjay Gandhi.

In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Rahul Gandhi defeated Smriti Irani to become MP for a third term from the same constituency.
In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the contest is very close between key candidates - Rahul Gandhi and Smriti Irani.
