Noida:
Residents of highrise societies in Noida Extension area have taken to
Twitter to complain about repeated cases of
vehicle thefts in the area.
Recently, some residents tweeted to the Prime Minister, UP DGP, CM, UP Police, Noida Police and Gautam Budh Nagar SSP about the thefts.
With as many as 15 cases reported between May 6 and May 19 — at least three cars, nine bikes, one truck and an auto have been reported missing — the residents have complained to Uttar Pradesh DGP and the chief minister about the failure of Greater Noida Police to recover the vehicles.
According to Manish Kumar, a resident of Arihant Arden Society, Sector 1, the
thefts are mostly being reported from the main roads near the societies.
The residents have collated data of such thefts and tweeted those.
While on May 19, an Alto 800 was stolen from near Ryan International School, Tech Zone-IV, a Hyundai car was stolen from near Cherry County. A WagonR was stolen on May 6.
FIRs have been lodged for 15 vehicles, residents alleged that there are some cases where no FIR has been lodged yet.
Jameel Rehman, a resident of Arihant Arden Society, said his car was parked outside a restaurant.
Some people allegedly stole his bag kept inside the car that had his iPad and some important documents.

vehicle theft was a problem in Greater Noida area and several recoveries have been made in the past.
Bisrakh police station SHO Manoj Pathak told TOI that it seems thieves come into the locality from neighbouring districts like Hapur and Ghaziabad.
“We have made recoveries in the past. A truck and two bikes were recovered. There has been shortage of force due to elections. But things will improve as the force is returning,” he said.
