GURUGRAM: The ruling
BJP made a clean sweep of all 10 Lok Sabha seats in
Haryana, with all its candidates defeating their nearest rivals by huge margins.
In Gurugram, sitting BJP MP
Rao Inderjit Singh defeated his nearest rival, Congress’s
Captain Ajay Yadav, by a margin of over 4 lakh votes. Singh will now serve a fifth term as MP, four of them from Gurugram.
Speaking about his priorities after the results were declared, Rao Inderjit said he would try to complete the AIIMS project in
Rewari, the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) between Delhi and Alwar, and metro rail connectivity in old Gurugram.
“Apart from this, other major development projects will be completed on priority basis,” he said, adding that the AIIMS in Rewari is of utmost importance for improving health services in the region. He also said the first phase of RRTS, worth Rs 25,000 crore, for connectivity up to Neemrana, has already begun.
The detailed project report (DPR) for extending metro to old Gurugram has been prepared, and work will begin soon, he added. For the people of
Mewat, he said the district has moved up from 117th rank to 34th rank in the Niti Ayog list, adding better health and education facilities will be provided to its residents.
“The route of the Rs 90,000 crore-Delhi-Mumbai expressway has been approved through Mewat keeping in mind the development of this backward district. Other pending projects, including Ranney wells and the Kotla lake, will be completed at the earliest,” he said.
On future challenges, Singh said there are none as people of the state and the country have given their mandate to BJP. The party will work towards the betterment of people. Thanking voters, Singh said he sought votes on the basis of the government’s 5-year report card.
“The government had completed the KMP Expressway, removed obstacles for Dwarka Expressway, formed GMDA, built several underpasses and flyovers. No other government has done so much work in the region and people voted for that,” said Inderjit.
He further said in his three-decade-long political career, he has never done anything that has given people of his constituency a bad name. “I never thought of personal benefit and always fought for people’s welfare,” he added.
