Bypoll soon in 6 constituencies

Thiruvananthapuram: Bypoll has become imminent in six assembly constituencies and going by the votes polled in the Lok Sabha election, the UDF is sitting pretty in all these seats.
The MLAs of Vattiyoorkavu, Aroor, Ernakulam and Konni will have to resign as they have now been elected to the Lok Sabha. Manjeswaram and Pala constituencies are lying vacant after their respective MLAs died.
In all these seats, UDF has exhibited an impressive performance in Lok Sabha election. In Vattiyoorkavu – represented by K Muraleedharan – Shashi Tharoor could secure a marginal increase in votes over BJP’s Kummanam Rajasekharan. If Tharoor got 53,545 votes here, Rajasekharan bagged 50,709 votes.
In Aroor – represented by AM Ariff – UDF candidate Shanimol Usman secured a slight majority as she received 65,656 votes whereas Ariff got 65,008 votes. Similarly, in Ernakulam, MLA Hibi Eden scored an impressive margin over his rival and LDF candidate P Rajeev. Eden bagged 71,720 votes while Rajeev could garner only 41,957 votes.
In Konni –represented by Adoor Prakash – UDF candidate Anto Antony got 49,667 votes while BJP candidate K Surendran got 46,946 votes.

In Manjeswaram, UDF candidate Rajmohan Unnithan bagged 68,217 votes when his nearest rival Ravisha Thanthri Kuntar got 57,104 votes. In Pala, UDF is sitting pretty with UDF candidate Thomas Chazhikadan bagging 66,971 votes while his nearest rival of the LDF V N Vasavan got only 33,499 votes.
Veena George, A Pradeep Kumar, C Divakaran, PV Anvar and Chittayam Gopakumar from LDF where the other MLAs in the fray, but all of them lost in this election.
