Irmscher Wants To Make The Opel Insignia GSi Look And Go Faster

The Insignia GSi is the fastest and most expensive version of Opel’s family saloon, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

This one comes from Irmscher. Looks-wise, the Insignia GSi gains an updated front end consisting of a new radiator grille with stainless steel or carbon fiber trim as well as a number of new carbon elements.

Seen from the side, the Insignia GSi reveals new 20-inch alloys available in two designs: Heli Star and Evo Star. To improve road-holding, the vehicle now sits 30 mm (1.18 in) closer to the ground.

There are no photos of the interior yet, but the tuner says the sport package brings stainless steel door sills with Irmscher lettering as well as high-quality leather seats. Obviously, the company will tailor the cabin to the customer’s preferences in terms of materials and color.

As for performance upgrades, Irmscher says they are already developing a pack for the 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The company will boost the maximum output to around 280 horsepower, up from 260 PS (256 hp) in stock guise. A small bump, but welcome nonetheless.

The tuning house’s upgrades for the Insignia GSi can be purchased individually or as a complete package.

The Insignia GSi is also available with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel that puts out 210 PS (207 hp) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. Both power plants are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
