PUNE: Two persons from
Kothrud were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly hacking real estate agent Ajaykumar Jaiswal (44) to death at the latter’s farmhouse in
Waghjainagar at Katraj on May 18.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth police identified the arrested as Vinayak Kurtkoti (26) of Mega City, Paud Phata, and his accomplice Avinash Jadhav (21). “Jaiswal, a resident of
Himali Society in Kothrud, was also into money lending business and Kurtkoti was working with him as an
office boy. He also used to help Jaiswal in getting clients in need of money,” Pramod Nalwade, assistant inspector of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police, said.
The murder came to light on May 20 when Jaiswal did not turn up at the office. “When Jaiswal’s another office boy Amit Vishwakarma tried to call the former him on his cellphone, he did not respond to the calls either. This is when Vishwakarma went to the farmhouse and found Jaiswal dead,” Nalwade said.
Police probe has revealed that Jaiswal did not pay Kurtkoti’s commission and was also pursuing the latter to send a woman relative of his to work at his office,” Nalwade said.
Furious by this, Kurtkoti hatched the plot to eliminate Jaiswal and executed it with the help of his friend Jadhav.
“After the murder Kurtkoti and Jadhav fled to Hubli in Karnataka on Saturday night. The duo returned to Pune on Monday night as they did not get any shelter there. We arrested them from Chandani Chowk on a tip-off received by constables Kundan Shinde and Ganesh Chinchkar,” Nalwade said.
