JAIPUR: Three unidentified robbers fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh from the house of a businessman in Brahampuri on Wednesday early morning.
The police said that Shikhar Chand Jain runs a pipe company in the city. On Wednesday, at about 6.30am, when Jain had gone to a nearby temple, three men knocked at his door. Jain’s domestic servant opened the door when one of the robbers claimed they are business associates of Jain and had come as per the former’s directions. “The servant opened the door when the trio breezed in, they asked the servant if Jain sahib was at home. When the servant replied no, the trio quickly locked the room from the inside and drew out their knives,” said SHO Bharat Singh.

Even before the servant could run for his life, one of the robbers overpowered him and threatened to kill him. The trio then ransacked the house, picked up Rs 3 lakh and jewellery from the closets. Shaken by the sudden incident, a trembling servant sought help from neighbours. SHO Bharat Singh retrieved the CCTV footage to identify the accused even as the police teams have been organized to chase the robbers.
The initial investigation indicates the accused had conducted a thorough reconnaissance of Jain’s house and struck after 6.30am when he had left the home. “They were aware of Jain’s morning routine and must have stalked his daily habits for a long time,” an official said. The city police said that the accused fled from nearby narrow lanes of Brahmpuri which indicates that they prepared a complete exit plan. “This is handiwork of a properly organized conspiracy. We have not ruled out the possibility of an insider’s role into the crime,” an official informed TOI.
