Not content with the roads, Uber goes underwaterFlying taxis in Dubai, hyperloop testing in California, and now this: the world's first submarine rideshare in Australia, aptly named ... scUber. (SOUNDBITE) (English) QUEENSLAND MINISTER FOR INNOVATION AND TOURISM INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT, KATE JONES SAYING: "We all know that you can see the Great Barrier Reef from space, but from today you'll be able to see the Great Barrier Reef from the world's very first ride-sharing submarine. ScUber is a great initiative where we'll be able to showcase the beautiful Great Barrier Reef to the world." As if food delivery, flying taxis, and self-driving tech weren't enough, it seems Uber is conquering the open sea, too. Launched alongside the state of Queensland, the experience sees passengers shepherded to the reef's murky depths via car, helicopter and the scUber sub. A bit pricier than your average rideshare however, the temporary experience will set customers back over a thousand dollars a ride. | |||||
