Skoda Citigo-e iV Debuts As Brand’s First EV With 265-Km Range

Skoda never built an electric vehicle but that changes today with the launch of the Citigo-e iV.

Based on the Citigo city car, the electric version packs a 61 kW (83 PS/82 hp) electric motor and a 36.8‑kWh lithium-ion battery enabling a range of up to 265 kilometers (165 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

As you can see, we’re dealing with a different battery pack than the VW e-Up. The electric motor is pretty much the same and produces an identical maximum torque of 210 Nm (155 lb-ft). This allows the Citigo-e iV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 12.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph).

The 60-Ah lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 36.8 kWh and is mounted in the chassis floor, just like on the e-Up. It can be recharged to 80 percent in 1 hour using a CCS (Combined Charging System) charging cable connected to a 40‑kW DC fast charger. The charging time to 80 percent capacity increases to 4 hours 8 minutes when a 7.2‑kW AC wall box is used.

Charging the battery at home to 100 percent capacity via a 2.3‑kW station will take 12 hours 37 minutes. Both the CCS and the cable required for AC charging are standard features for the Style trim level and options for the Ambition grade.

The Skoda Citigo-e iV will be offered exclusively as a five-door model in two trim levels (Ambition and Style). You’ll distinguish it from combustion-engined Citigo models thanks to unique details such as the body-colored “radiator” grille, redesigned front bumper with standard fog lights and LED DRLs, indicators integrated into the mirror caps, and Citigo-e badge at the back.

Base Ambition models come with 14-inch steel wheels including Indus wheel trims and 165/70 R14 tires as standard. The two‑tone 16‑inch Scorpius alloy wheels shod with 185/50 R16 tires are optional for Ambition and standard for Style models. Customers will be able to select seven exterior colors for the Citigo-e iV: Candy White, Tornado Red, Sunflower Yellow, the exclusive Kiwi Green, Deep Pearlescent Black, Crystal Blue, and Tungsten Silver.

Inside, the Citigo-e iV brings a redesigned instrument panel and a more comprehensive standard equipment including power front windows, Climatronic, remote central locking, Swing II radio, and the Move&Fun smartphone docking station on the dashboard. A mobile phone can be used as an additional display for vehicle data using the Move&Fun app.

The range-topping Style trim level adds goodies such as the Leather Detailing package, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, height-adjustable front seats, and more. Safety-wise, standard features include Lane Assist, front airbags, as well as head and thorax airbags for the front seats. The Skoda Citigo-e iV enters production in the second half of the year.
